Disney on Ice!

Thanks to a friend who let me know about Disney on Ice coming to Omaha, our family enjoyed a night out together with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy...and a whole bunch of other Disney characters.  Kinnie was looking forward to it for so long and could hardly stand those last few minutes before the show started.

When the show started she kind of just sank into Landon's arm with a smile on her face.  I think she was just so overwhelmed and happy to be there and finally see that moment she had been waiting for where the characters came out onto the ice and skated around.  She was in heaven and just kept looking over at me and smiling throughout the entire show.  There were a few more times she just laid her head on Landon's arm.

Here is the beginning of the show

Andrew kept asking where Donald Duck was before the show started.  He asked about the lights and looked around at all of the people, especially the boy behind us who had a big blue plastic sword.  He was so tired but couldn't keep his eyes off of all of the characters.  On the way home he said he didn't like it because of the fireworks at the very end.  He is still not a big fan.  Landon said "so the 5 fireworks at the end ruined the whole thing for you huh?"  Andrew did admit that Goofy was his favorite when we got home.

I have to admit, I was a little emotional at first.  I felt so dumb about it, I held back the tears of course, I am really good at that.  It was just so neat to see my kids so happy and to be there altogether doing something fun and memorable.  I think Kinnie will always remember it.  I told Landon we need to do more things like this but I guess the infrequency of it is partly what makes it so special.

It couldn't have ended on a better act.  Kinnie is a little obsessed with Peter Pan right now.  She has actually only seen the Disney Peter Pan once or twice but she has been watching a movie Peter Pan on Netflix that is really cute.  I think she has watched it 5 times in the last week (maybe I shouldn't admit that).

This is her "I can't believe it is Peter Pan" look

From the Mouth of Andrew

  • One day after Kinnie and Andrew were out watching the garbage truck, they came inside and Andrew said "Whey I go up, I drive jarbage chruck!"  He also said after watching Caillou one day "Whey I go up, I drive frier chruck!"

  • "Maybe we buy kite at store, maybe" or when watching Peter Pan and Wendy fly he said "maybe we fwy(fly), maybe."

  • A week or so ago he asked for something like a toy, I can't really remember.  And I must have responded by saying that he could ask for it for his birthday.  I guess that stuck so now he says he can ask for it for his birthday.  Usually he is near tears when he says it, I guess because he really really wants it, its pretty cute.  "My wan a rock-ship for my tirthtay" or "my wan swippers for my tirthtay" or "my wan carriage horsey my tirthtay."

  • He says last night for when he means tomorrow like "wast night we go chirden seum" (children's museum).

I love the stage of life he is in right now.  So much figuring out and independency, feeling like he is a big kid.  His very most favorite words are still "my do it."

I BATMAN!

All he needs is his mask he "made" at the children's museum...

A dish cloth for his "tape"...

And he is BATMAN!

He runs around the house saying "I Batman" and does some sort of pretending, fighting off the bad guys.
