Hooray!

Hooray for warm weather! Hooray for having the car! Hooray for the zoo!

(Notice that no jackets were worn in the making of these pictures)!

The penguins were the biggest hit for Kinnie. She just saw "Happy Feet" last weekend and so she was very excited to see the penguins. Andrew loved it all, including "people watching".

"Balentime's" Day

Valentine's Day was a little more exciting this year then it usually is. Landon and I don't usually do too much. Sometimes we buy each other little gifts, sometimes we just do cards. Now that Kinnie is getting older she understand the holidays a little better and it was fun to show her all about Valentine's Day . She was so excited for "Balentime's" Day for some reason. I explained it to her a few days before and she was so excited about the whole thing. She made some Valentine's cards and helped me make cookies and then we took them around to some friends. I think she is going to be a big fan of Valentine's Day.

Conversations with Kinnie

Kinnie likes to know who, what, when, where and why. She has been asking some pretty serious questions lately. I guess it comes with the age.

  • After singing "I am a Child of God" for a bedtime song Kinnie asked "But what means God?" So I told her that God is another name for Heavenly Father. So she asked "Where does Heavenly Father live?" I told her that Heavenly Father lives in heaven (keeping it simple). She asks "How do we get to heaven?" While I am saying "ummmm...." I thought I heard her say airplane so I asked her if she said airplane, kind of smiling at how she was trying to figure things out. She said "No, angel, maybe an angel takes us there." And I said "Ya...maybe." I think sometimes she knows more then me!

  • Kinnie had overheard a friend and I talking about that show Hoarders...I think that is what it is called. My friend was telling me how this one lady had 75+ cats and as the people started cleaning out her home they found a ton of dead cats. Kinnie was right there listening and I am pretty sure that is what sparked this next conversation: We were sitting in the living room later that evening on the floor and she pointed to the tv and vcr and tv stand and said "Will these things die?" I said "No, well sometimes things die like when the computer runs out of batteries we say it dies and then we plug it in and it works again." So I told her that things that are living die, people, dogs, cats, even flowers kind of die. So she named a few more things "monkeys, gorillas." Then she said "It's like when the computer dies and we plug it in we are like Heavenly Father."

Sometimes I can't believe she isn't this little toddler anymore.

She is growing up too fast! I love her to pieces and am so grateful to have her in our family!

Crafty-ish

I have come to the realization that I am not super crafty. I don't know a lot about what materials you need to buy or what product is best for making this or making that. I really wanted to make Kinnie a tutu since she wears the same old thing to dance every week. I knew it had to be simple since I don't own a sewing machine so I figured out how to make her a "no-sew" tutu from the internet. It was actually pretty easy and will be a whole lot easier if I ever do it again.

Andrew needed to try it on too.

And, luckily, I have a lot of crafty friends who know what they are doing. Here is our latest result from a craft night. My very first Valentine decorations. Can you believe it?
